The Lower Lakes Stockman's Challenge & Bush Festival returns in 2019 and I'm excited to be there on the Saturday and Sunday to provide tastings of our latest coffee (as well as offering bags for sale on the weekend).
I have found an unusually high number of our club members are from remote areas and I surveyed them to understand why they choose Roasted On for their coffee beans. One member really summed it up well:
"Cost and access to decent food [in remote areas] is a huge issue, plus the issues of choice and old stock which is a bugbear of small country towns."
We love our road trips up to the Flinders Ranges to go bushwalking. The fresh air, and peace and quiet is refreshing. But there's no doubt that those long distances and small local populations mean that the stock in supermarkets are even staler than what they have in the city.
I believe this is part of the reason why online purchasing from people in remote areas is much higher than from those in cities. In 2017, Australia Post was quoted "regional rural citizens order three times more items online than metropolitan citizens."
If you're from the city, then come and enjoy this year's event. Camping, glamping and buses are all available. If you're attending and live outside of the city, then come and say hi and enjoy a free tasting. You can find us in the Country Lane Market.
